Adult discipleship classes

We recognize that every believer is on a unique spiritual journey. Our goal at SVEFC for our adult discipleship classes is to build a strong Christian foundation, encourage spiritual growth, and foster relationships within the body of believers. New Adult Discipleship Classes will begin Thursday, January 18, 2018.

  • Making Sense of who God is (Part Two)

This class will explore many important questions about God: how do we know God exists, can we know God and how much of God do we know? Then we will study God's attributes and how he is different from us and like us. Lastly, we will see what the Bible teaches about the Trinity, which is a great mystery and yet clearly taught in Scripture. This class will strengthen and deepen your worship of God and your subsequent service for his glory.  Mike Aiken will be facilitating this class.

  • Financial Peace University (FPU)

Jason Hoffer will be facilitating this class.

  • Onward

In this six-session Bible study, understand how the kingdom of God sets our priorities as believers and gives us perspective on cultural issues. As the culture changes all around us, it is no longer possible for Christians to pretend that we are a moral majority. That may be bad news for America, but it can be good news for the church. Nominal Christianity isn't working anymore.

What's needed now, in shifting times, is neither a doubling-down on the status quo nor a retreat into isolation. Instead, we need a church that speaks to social and political issues with a bigger vision in mind: that of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As Christianity seems increasingly strange and even subversive to our culture, we have the opportunity to embrace the distinctiveness of the Christian faith and to be marginalized for the sake of the gospel.  Bill Hitz will be facilitating this class.

Dinner/Dessert for 8 is a great way to connect and make friends.  New groups form often, so it is never too late to join!  If you would like more information on how to connect in a D48 group click here.

Ministry to Men

We believe that strong men create a strong Church. Our men's ministry, "Body Builders", exists to do three things for the men in our church and in our community:

CONNECT:    "No man is an island". We grow strong men by creating an environment of community and support. Beyond the pressures of life, it's important for men to just be men, and have fun with other men in a healthy and uplifting atmosphere.

GROW:   You can't build muscle by being stagnant. As men, we help each other grow and develop our spiritual muscles to become true men of God.

SERVE:  Strength is worthless unless it's used. Helping others is how we outwardly display our strength - physically and spiritually.
